The fractured photo matches right up with the poem. I am captured by the lines “My adoptee affections polarize realities, that cause reactions that unjustly inflict pain.” May your kin learn not to inflict pain on you (I know I’m doing my damnedest to avoid inflicting pain on my own kin). Well done, Emily!!!

Sending it right back to you, Emily. My “gateway drug” for poetry was “Poetry in Motion” on the NYC subways. I look for poems that open my eyes and at the same time shine a light on a my own life.
